Beginning Spring 2024, this program will be part of MCC’s Workforce Development Center and will transition to a workforce credential program rather than a degree or college credit program.
Overview
Become part of a growing in-demand healthcare field and learn how to code for medical offices, clinics, mental health facilities, and hospitals. In addition to medical reimbursement, coding is used for planning and research, to track diseases and by hospital administrators to determine if facilities are used effectively. Successful completion of this certificate will prepare you to sit for a national coding exam.
You’ll learn how to abstract information from the patient record and combine it with your knowledge of reimbursement and coding guidelines to optimize physician payment. Students must achieve a minimum grade of “C” (73.33) in all courses to receive the Medical Coding Professional Certificate.
