Acting labor secretary visits MCC; highlights trade careers

MANCHESTER, N.H. —

The acting labor secretary visited the Granite State on Monday as the Trump administration highlights skilled training education.

Keith Sonderling met with students and staff at Manchester Community College.

Starting this week, the Department of Education is launching the Workforce Pell Program for education in the trades.

“That’s going to allow students to get financial aid to take certificate programs; allow students to get that financial aid they weren’t able to get before,” Sonderling said.

Data from the Department of Labor show there are more than 3,300 active apprenticeships in New Hampshire, which is up roughly 68% from 10 years ago.
