Professor Carrie Marshall Gross started her career in Early Childhood Education in the fall of 2003 upon attaining her bachelor’s degree. Carrie spent the first three years as a classroom teacher working with various age groups while she completed her master’s in Child Development and Early Education.
It was during the completion of her master’s degree that she realized that her passion was training and teaching adult learners. Immediately upon graduation, Carrie certified as a Workshop Presenter and eventually became credentialed as a faculty member with the NH Early Childhood Professional Development System. In January of 2006, Carrie was hired at MCC to teach in the Early Childhood Program and has been with MCC ever since.
Carrie spent the first seven years at MCC as an adjunct instructor teaching nights, weekends and online. During that time, she was an Early Childhood & Disabilities Specialist for a local Head Start program where she hired, trained and monitored teachers across Hillsborough and Rockingham counties to ensure high quality care and education and compliance with federal and state regulations.
In the fall of 2013, Carrie was offered the opportunity to join the MCC faculty as the full time Chair of the Education Department and has been here ever since. In 2019, Carrie was nominated by her peers and awarded the Chancellor’s Award for Teaching Excellence.
In addition to teaching in the classroom, Carrie spends a lot of time on a variety of committees at MCC and within the Early Childhood community. During her time at MCC, Carrie has worked with her amazing department of talented faculty and staff to maintain accreditation through the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
