Overview
The Recovery Support Worker certificate will provide you with the education, skills and competencies necessary to work with individuals in recovery from substance use disorders. Recovery services are in high demand due to the recent opioid epidemic in New Hampshire and the rest of the country. This certificate will prepare you for work in recovery services so you can gain the hours of experience required for application to become a “Certified Recovery Support Worker” (CRSW) through the International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium (IC&RC) as endorsed by the State of New Hampshire.
Employees with CRSW certification are then able to work for any agency that contracts for state funding for recovery services, grass roots organizations and private organizations. Potential jobs include working as a Recovery Support Worker or Recovery Coach at area agencies and coalitions that offer the spectrum of services related to substance misuse.
The Recovery Support Worker certificate is geared toward those who are interested in recovery support but not yet working in the field, as well as those who are employed in human services but have an interest in training in substance use disorders. It would also be a useful certificate if you work in related fields, such as nursing, or for people with shared experience with substance use disorders.
